City Tour & Museam

Arequipa City Tour & Santuarios Andinos Museam (half day)

The White City opens up its doors in a tour that begins in the beautiful colonial quarter of San Lázaro, where Arequipa was founded; from here we will walk along the picturesque streets adorned with geraniums, and then we will head for the Carmen Alto viewpoint from where we will be able to admire the beautiful landscape of farming terraces and the three guardian volcanoes that surround the city: Misti, Chachani and Pichu-Picchu. We will then continue to the colonial district of Yanahuara, famous for its church built in Andalusia style, and its viewpoint with is gorgeous architecture surrounded by sillar stone arches. After that, we will head for the Main Square, where we will be able to see the Cathedral and the arches that surround the plaza, and then visit the Church of the Company of Jesus founded in the 17th century by the Jesuits, and which stands out for its cloisters and the famous Saint Ignacio Dome. The tour will end with a stop at the Andean Sanctuaries Museum where “Juanita”, the beautiful girl of the Ampato Volcano is displayed.

Arequipa City Tour and Santa Catalina Monastery (3 hours)

Stroll along the historic streets of Arequipa and visit the Monastery de Santa Catalina

Finally, we will head for the Main Square, where we will be able to see the Cathedral and the arches that surround the plaza, and then visit the Church of the Company of Jesus founded in the 17th century by the Jesuits, and which stands out for its cloisters and the famous Saint Ignacio Dome.

Countryside Tour

Arequipa Countryside Tour "Sabandia Mill and Founder's Mansion" (half day)

We will visit the city outskirts which still preserve part of the famous Arequipa garlic and onion fields. The tour will begin at the Paucarpata District with its farming terraces that date back to pre-Inca times. We will visit the Sabandia Mill built in the 18th century and which is still working. We will also visit the Founder´s Mansion, a beautiful building of colonial times that dates back to the 18th century. Then we will travel along Vía Paisajista to reach Tingo, and old summer resort, and finish the tour by visiting the Sachaca viewpoint from where we can see the entire city.

Itinerary
• Day 1: Arequipa / Colca Valley
We will head for the spectacular Colca Valley climbing by the skirts of the Chachani volcano; the view of the Misti and Picchu Picchu volcanoes is spectacular. We will cross the Pampa Cañahuas Vicuna Reserve, where we will see them freely grazing in the highlands. Unique typical villages will appear on our way. We will reach the town of Chivay where we will have lunch. We will have the afternoon free to rest and enjoy our lodge or to optionally visit the hot baths in the surrounding area. Overnight in the lodge.

• Day 2: Colca Valley / Arequipa
Very early in the morning we will head for the Condor Cross viewpoint, where we expect to see the awesome flight of the condors, huge endangered birds that are the symbols of the Andes Mountains. Here we will be able to have a full view of the size of the canyon, considered as one of the deepest canyons in the world. We will then visit the villages of Maca (Achoma) and Yanque, which still preserve their colonial churches. After lunch, we will head back to Arequipa.

Santa Catalina Monastery

Santa Caltalina Monastery

Built in 1580 and eventually expanded to include cloisters, plazas, streets, tiled roofs, and cobblestone paving, this walled citadel served as a totally enclosed convent for nuns from the city's most distinguished families. The town's interior houses valuable colonial paintings of the Cuzco School, carvings and figures, religious relics, and well-preserved physical settings typical of daily life more than four hundred years ago.

Visiting Hours: Mon - Sun 9.00 am - 5.00 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays 9.00 am - 8.00 pm. High Season - 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.
