What You Can Expect
The Bay of All Saints (aka All Saints Bay or Baía de Todos os Santos) is the largest bay in Brazil and was known by the indigenous Kirimurê as Tupinambás, meaning 'great inland sea.' Formed by a coastal boundary of 186 miles (300 km), it was the epicenter of Portuguese colonial civilization in the Americas. Your sailing tour provides the opportunity to see the sights of the bay as you cruise across the water on a schooner in the typical style of the region. During your ride, take in views of the city of Salvador and listen to samba music. Drinks like caipirinhas are available to purchase. You'll disembark one one of the 56 islands around the bay, like the Island Paradise of Friars, which boasts scenery of beaches, mountains, palm trees, and native trees including Pau-Brazil. Enjoy relaxing by the shore, and sample some snacks and drinks, if you wish. Afterward, head to Itaparica, the largest maritime island in Brazil, rich in history that is preserved both in its architecture and in its religious groups of African origin. On this island, lunch is provided at a restaurant that specializes in local cuisine. Spend the afternoon enjoying the beauty of the area before your tour ends.
