Start your 6-hour tour with hotel pickup and a comfortable ride by private car or minivan (depending on the size of your group). At your first stop you’re treated to a wine tasting of different varietals including merlot, syrah, viognier and, of course, tannat — a red wine made from one of Uruguay’s most prominent grapes. Select your favorite one for a refill before a private tour of the vineyard with your guide, and learn about local winemaking traditions from the owner and winemaker. Back in your vehicle, you’re escorted to the next winery for additional tastings of five different wines paired with cheese. Listen as your guide discusses Uruguay’s thriving wine industry and get an introduction to the estate on a comprehensive tour. At the final venue of the day, settle in for a three-course gourmet lunch accompanied by two wines. With a scenic vineyard as your backdrop, feast on typical Uruguayan dishes such as lamb, fresh fish and pasta. After lunch, admire more countryside views during a tour of the property.
