Jesuit Legacy Tour (full day)
The Jesuit Legacy Tour is perfect and recommended for any traveller wanting to find out more about the history of the Jesuit Order in Argentina and its influence on the traditions and educational legacy left on the province of Cordoba, besides of the architectonical gems hidden in the stunning mountain landscapes of Cordoba.
We leave Córdoba on RN 9 until we arrive at Colonia Caroya, lodging for descendantes of the inmigrants of northern Italy and famous for its homemade salamis. There we visit the Estancia Jesuítica Casa de Caroya, which was used as a summer residence for students of Colegio de Monserrat. After that, we will go to Jesús María, renowned for its Festival de Doma y Folclore (taming and folk music festival), where we will find the Estancia Jesuítica San Isidro Labrador, pioneer in the making of wine in the area.
Continuing we visit the historical “Posta de Sinsacate” and area of Barranca Yaco, where the caudillo Facundo Quiroga was murdered, for arriving later at the Estancia de Santa Catalina, known for the beauty of its church baroque. We go along the Sierras Chicas, pass the picturesque localities Ascochinga, La Granja, Villa Animi, Agua de Oro, Salsipuedes and Río Ceballos and return to Córdoba on RP E-53.
