Manso River Rafting
Manso River Rafting Adventure
Difficulty: Low
Enjoy the unique experience of rafting on one of the best rivers in Patagonia on this full-day tour from Bariloche. Experience an unforgettable time on the majestic Manso River, where you can admire the turquoise water and beautiful landscape.
If you want some action you will have to start up earlier! You’ll be picked up at your hotel and driven to the rafting site. On the way you can enjoy mate tea and interesting conversation before reaching the ranch close to the border with Chile.
You drive approximately 70 kilometers (45 miles) on Route 40 up to a place known as “Paraje Villegas”. From here you detour for about 30 kilometers (20 miles) until you reach the ranch campsite at around 10:30. There you have breakfast to fill you up with the energy you need for paddling while you go rafting.
After setting up the rafting equipment and making sure that you are dressed up in the dry-fit (neoprene) suit, the rafting guide will introduce you to the paddling techniques and safety instructions. Then you are ready to set off and start your rafting descent.
For the first 30 minutes you enjoy rafting through a breathtaking canyon called “velvet canyon”. You continue easy paddling; from the emerald green waters you paddle to the real white water rapids. The welcoming rapids provide a taster of things to come. Enjoy 2 hours of fun and adrenaline as you raft in a beautiful landscape. Paddle through the “agujero do ozono” (ozone hole), “gritá y llorá" (scream and cry), and "éxtasis" (ecstasies) rapids.
You finish the rafting adventure just on the border with Chile, where the van will be waiting to drive you to the camp. Here you enjoy an asado patagónico (Patagonian barbecue) with fine red wine. After coffee you return to Bariloche.
